How to safely remove Windows PC Defender from your PC

Another fake and dangerous security program

Get rid of Windows PC Defender before it is too late

As you probably know Windows Defender is a spyware protection program created by Microsoft for their Windows operating system. However, there is lots of dangerous spyware that disguises itself as "real" security programs in order to trick people into buying and installing them. And if they by design look very similar to a known product (through the use of layout and logos or icons), this becomes much easier and is exactly the case with "WINPC defender" and "Windows PC Defender". Take a look at the screenshot below and you will most likely agree with me, that they can easily fool unsuspercting users into thinking they are genuine anti spyware sprograms from Microsoft:

A fake anti spyware program

Another fake security program

If you go to Microsoft's website and locate their Windows Defender program you will see they actually warn against fake anti spyware that try to imitate their product - and with good reason I might add! You must immediately remove this harmful virus if you are unlucky enough to have it.
One thing is to create a rogue spyware removal program and scare people into byuing it with fake warnings, but making the program look like a something trustworthy from a well known company simply boosts the chance that many more unfortunate internet users fall for the scam.

Never ever buy or download these fake programs. In fact, don't ever download anything with a name that resembles any of these unless you are certain, that you are getting it from Microsoft's own website.

Now let's assume you didn't know all this and you have ended up in a situation where you actually need a way to remove it. The first thing you should try is using a real spyware removal program. A strong and reliable one such as ESET Smart Security (they also offer a 30 day free triel). Run a complete system scan - remember to scan all drives, partition, flash drives and USB sticks you may have and let the program deal with the infections. This is the easiest, quickest and most importantly the safest way to get read of rogue spyware.

You can also remove Windows PC Defender manually if you want to, but I have to issue a small warning here. The instructions in the file below I have found on the Internet, but I haven't tested it personally. I believe it should work but the real danger is if you make a mistake and accidently delete some files that are part of the operating system on your computer. This could potentially render your computer unstable or even unusable requiring a complete re-install of everything. So be carefull! Furthermore, if you want to remove this program manually you also need a bit of technical knowledge.

Please download the pdf below for the instructions.
